Jl subs loudness

I have 2 jl w3v3's in a HO box in my fusion off a xd600/1 mono amp. I have the bass knob max and my volume max and i feel like they arent as liud as they could be. I can still have a conversation with the person next to me very clear lol. My friend has 2 kicker cvrs off a kicker 1000.1 amp in his a4. With his volume about 70% and his bass at 1/4 they are crazy loud and i find myself screaming at him and i can barely hear myself!

I kno the kickers should be way louder than mine. But really that loud? Ive always been concerned about my amps power only being 600watts on subs that can handle 300rms each (later rated on jl website to 500rms each) i had my setup installed by a local shop called AutoImage so i havent touched any settings or anything.

Is there anything that they may have done to almost limit it a litle bit so it wont be too loud? Or are these subs just this loud. My subs i heard are not meant for spl as they have great sq.

If anything i may upgrade to two L3's.

it's all in the box, get a proper box designed for your current subs and you will be amazed.

Custom box should do wonders for you. Also, bass knob is not a toy. Set the gains right and don't touch it unless you are turning it down.

Don't think L3s would be an upgrade.

It depends on your cars acoustics and how hard you push them too. Perhaps even with everything maxed out the amp isn't outputting rated power (i.e if the gain is turned down for example). How is the box positioned (orientation and location)?

That's what i was wondering....

Turn the volume 3/4 of the way up and then slowly turn up ur gain on the amp until u hit distortion, slowly dial it back til the distortion is gone. Find out if the subs are in the proper size enclosure. He's running more power so there's a good chance he'd be louder and maybe his car is just easier to get loud.
