Hey guys. I've pretty much narrowed my choices down to JL subs for my new '07 CR-V. Here's what i've got planned:

Eclipse CD5100 HU

Focal Polyglass 130 V2's- Front doors

Focal Polyglass 130 CV1's- Rear Doors

Cadence TXA3004 for Focal's

Subs:

Here's the problem- I can't decide over 3 pairs of sub/amp combos. I decided to go with Cadence amps instead of my original planned Alpine PDX's because I decided to cut the sound install budget a bit due to the already high expenses. Anyway, here are my choices. They cost around the same, each combo being within less than $100 less or more than the other two:

2x JL 10w6v2's with a Cadence TXA1000D

1x JL 13w6v2 with a Cadence TXA750D

1x JL 10w7 with a Cadence TXA750D (or a JL 500/1)

I'm really looking for SQ in these subs. I'm done with the "boom-boom" days of SPL and I just want a clean sounding system that I can turn up and show off to other drivers once in a while.

Although I've already crossed out Alpine, RF, TC, etc. off the list, i'm open to any suggestions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

2x JL 10w6v2's with a Cadence TXA1000D, make sure you spend extra time on deciding your enclosure type.

You can make two 10w6v2's definitley sound better than 1 13w6v2 or even the 10w7 if you do the enclosure right.

I like you are (was) practically in the same boat - I was set on JL's for all the right reasons, and I am set on a sealed system for SQ w/ 1krms - That being as it may, I would go with 2 drivers in a sealed enclosure for the SQ that you are after, but still have the "occasional" output that you'll want - I have for the 1st time in a really long time decided to try something else other than JL - alot of people have made some really good suggestions (see the JL Owners/Listeners thread) and for half the price I think I'll be very close in SQ -

thanks for the info guys! Anyway, I've already got my mind set on a sealed box, as all my previous installs have utilized a sealed box and I like the SQ I get from them. Anyway, I was looking at FI and RE but i've already spent much time eliminating all the other combo ideas and im willing to delay the install in order to pay for the JL's.

I was listening to 2w6v2's the other day in a small sealed box (probably not to spec)...and it sounded good until I turned the bass knob up a little over halfway. Then the subs acted as if they were "suffocating" in the sealed enclosure and were making those notorious farting noises. Any chance of this happening in a to-spec sealed box? Thanks again!

well, i'm just about ready to buy a sub (or pair) of subs. I was really going to go for a pair of the 10w6v2's but then it hit me...Some people have mentioned that I can get kick-*** SQ from the TC Sounds OEM 10.

My new question is, how would 1x OEM 10 compare to 1x JL 10w6v2? The power being given to each will obviously be different, but for the sake of comparision, which would have a better SQ output? The more and more I think of it, I just can't justify paying $550 for those pair of JL's, which look so hot to car thieves.

Yah, so. What do you think? Im pretty sure that the OEM 10 would sound good with a Cadence TXA1000D. Even at $175, can the OEM 10 deliver the same SQ as a JL 10w6v2?
