We were in Waukegan. But the same guys I speak of that beat all of the JL setups did go down there too. I wasn't in Springfield, but I bet it was the same rep.

yeah ive been to a couple shows with the DOA guys. mike made my 151.9 look stupid haha. but funny tho, at our show the JL truck had 6 13w7's in it and did a 150.9 LMAO

Sometimes having that control over price points where you can consistently charge a premium creates this mystique for some that indicates you must be the better manufacturer cause your stuff costs so much more. Cause the better stuff always costs alot more money, right?

I think that's pretty much it. Some people buy into the JL stuff thinking it is fully capable of doing big SPL numbers. They think with a W7 in their trunk they'll be the loudest thing out there.

yeah but they got it all basically given to them. it was the shop's owners sons truck. funny thing is he ran through the lanes and put that number up and took home a trophy.....lol thats kinda bogus beign that he works there......but there was alos a kid with a 13w7 in his trunk that SMOKED it there hahaha i kinda felt bad cuz he payed a grand for it

After seeing the thread title, I thought the OP was referring to this news story:

Charges were filed against the CEO of JL Audio.

The victim (The secretary of the CEO) alleges at last year's company Christmas party they had one of those "hunk" auctions.

The victim alleges that after winning the CEO for $10.00 that they headed to her apartment for a nightcap. She claims that at some point in the night, her boss attacked her. She sustained massive head trauma from an alleged punch to her head. This resulted in a concussion, black eye and broken nose. She alleges that punch was thrown by the CEO.

The CEO maintains that he left shortly after they shared a drink and nothing of the sort happened.

When the case came to trial the judge looked at the evidence. He saw the pictures of the battered secretary, deliberated for only a few seconds and then made his ruling.

The judge said: "Obviously her story is not true because nothing from JL comes cheap and it can't hit worth a SH!T. Case dismissed."

Jl is actually cheap. Dealers mark up is what makes the price go up.

if think jl is the shit then u probably dont know that much about car audio,they bank on the typical kid who is just that and then they screw you with no grease for everything they can get.frankly a jl 1000 is about 550 or less dealer cost for a 1000 watt amp underated i know but for the same money or less you can buy a sundown or audioque much better amp and you can drop the impedance to get more power ,you can do that with a jl. ive had their products before and when my customers ask for them i try to steer them in another direction. NOT THAT GOOD!

Another thing that I dislike about JL Audio is the enclosures they recommend for their subwoofers are generally TOO SMALL and will not provide much sub bass, even with cabin gain. Then again, maybe some like to produce most of their bass frequencies between 50 and 70 Hz because that is usually where JL's recommended enclosures peak.
