OH i promise you its possible to blow a sub

But not as easy as some people think

I had a pair of Polk EX 10" (my girlfriends) and i hooke them up to 500 rms each

They popped before to long, and thats not much power

ON the other hand

I had an Opitums (radioshack $10 12" sub)

and i had one coil on a 740 RMS load, and the other on a 600

(so not only was it powered like crazy, i twas allso uneven)

The ****er struglled a little, but when it was wired back down correctly, it sounded perfectly fine (for what radioshack sub can)

I was surpised, a little pissed, cause i spend 3 bucks to watch something self distruct and it lived through it, so needless to say, i found a baseball bat and finshed it off

in a ported box with no filter yes..you can but the blow acts like a clip cause in mechanical terms it is a clip...in a small sealed box that is tight the woofer that blows due to over powering will clapp then get thrashed apart...

not so long ago, when i damaged my power hx2, i hooked uo my bd1000.1 to my old old old jbl sub, i wasnted to mess it up, so i pumped it, it farted an the low bass notes, but it took it, and it sounded pretty loud t0o, quality wasn't that g0od tho. Reminded me of my brothers friend 2 jl who knows wut, he abuses those subs like crazy, now he is a volume master, but he doesn't car if it sounds g0od or not,as long as its loud. u should hear those subs fart!!!

i agree with him i have two jl w3d2 15's with two 1000watt sony xplod amps (which are underated by the way) and thats all i had with the amps turned down i hit 148db and that was the first time id competed and im still an amuture when it comes to getting the car more pressurized but i thought there pretty good and that jacka** has no clue what hes talkin bout

Dude man i have 3 12 w6's with a memphis 1000d on it with the gain all the way down and my subs sound great jl makes a good sub they maybe pricey but you can find them for a good price i paid 190 bucks a piece for mine i had 2 of them with a fosgate bd1000 on it the stat sheet said 1147 watts you break that down that over 550 a woofer and they handled it the reason why you blew those jl's cause of all the distortion you was running and if i were you i would have ran them jl's at a 1ohm on that amp they would have handled it no problem but you kicking the gain up will make you blow your subs faster and another thing it is worse on a woofer to under power it then to over power it

JL audio doesn't make that good of subs, Just look at there magnets on the back, little pieces of shit. I had 2 12w0s and 150watts max going to them and killed them. sounded like shit. Then i bought a He2 15" and pushed it with a 500a2 and was hitting upper 140db's and it sounded way better, Theres alot of better subs out there, and im not saying rockfords the best, but i personly dont like JL audio subs

Zane you ran 1500 watts into 2 12 wos??? Dude how in the world did you do that? I was bottoming out 1 12 w0 with a fosgate 120.2 so how in the world did your run 1500 into 2 of them or did you mean w3s?

It was in a jl powerwedge enclosure that had around 3.0 cu it did pound pretty good but i still cant undertsand how 1500 watts wouldnt smoke em.

if in a tight box the suspension gets hella tighter plus prolly biggest factor is smooth CLEAN power. i personally have seen w0's (3 of them) be powered by a memphis 1000d sounded pretty sweet..wasnt the loudest but far from wimpy..just dont clippem
