JL Audio

Since you are assuming everything, I will set the record strait.

My old JL 12W0's were being pushed by an Orion HCCA2100G4.

The subs were mounted in the rear deck of my 85' Tbird facing strait up. These were the first set of subs I used in this install. I later progressed to 2 W6's, then two Polk Momo 12's and the onto 2 Infinity Perfect 12's. Regaurdless, this was a new install that I was evaluating efficiency upon. I never said this was a smart idea out of the blue, however it worked and the W0's were able to handle the power for a considerable ammount of time. (approximately a month and a half - if memory serves.) The woofers were being abused for all practical purposes with that much power, however, in doing so I verified that the design of my install was quite efficient and suitable for further use. In doing so, I was also able to measure the abillities of the woofer beyond what JL had rated them at. I will be the first to say that the W0's are quite under-rated too.

You may also find it interesting that Richard Clark, Tom Nousaine, Howard Doctor, etc all have in house amplifiers capable of 10,000 watts or greater output. These are used for thier testing purposes when they evaluate woofers for the reviews they print in thier respective magazines.

If you care to ask each one of these people about this please go to http://www.carsound.com to reach Richard Clark, http://www.m-emag.com to reach Tom Nousaine, and http://www.autosoundmag.com to reach Howard Doctor.

In regaurds to your highly "mature" last comment, the former, not the latter holds true.

I totally believe zane about the 12W0s. As a matter of fact, I am running a 12W0 right now with 400 RMS going to it, and I am in no fear of turning that mother way the **** up. It's all about the install, and having just a bit of faith in the craftsmanship of the sub. Unregistered, you need to be able to afford JL first before you can talk bad about them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

Yeah, I ran into a guy the other day, bragging about his system, saying I had a specially made box from Q Logic, that's guaranteed to hit 158 db. I started laughing so hard. Maybe they could get the 158, but I can bet you won't even hit a 150, with your 2-12's. Gotta have some skill.

yuh these are the type of clowns that go buy a 300 dollar van and get 2 rt bandpass boxxes and 2 15" q logic boxxes screwem down through the carpet go to "nasa" and have their 200 dollar amps beefed then hook up the woofers all out of phase and brag about hittin 178 db until it gets metered at 132db ...come a dime a dozen lol. then they go to autozone pick out the chrome 110 amp alt hook up 4 lawn mower batteries to get the "juice"..man that is what street bassin is all about. their lights go dim when their woofaz be smackin the pavement ghetto bassin through da hood...lol now i be stretchin for an amish dood huh? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif just wish these guys put the same amount of effort learning as they do shootin off at the mouth they would learn some sweet science.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

To the guy who said that he almost blew the w3s. You are full of crap. I hooked my 1200.1 to my friends W3 and it never hurt it!!! You know why? Because I did not have the gains up all the way. You can't blow a sub from too much power!!

Not entirely true......

From my other post dealing with the same question,

There still are certain limitations that physics has no way arround.

These limitations are measured by the T/S parameters Cms, L ,Mms, BL, and most importantly - Rms. The parameter Rms is defined as "The drivers Mechanical Losses."

Most speakers are very conservatively rated, however they do have limitations.

Underpowering simply is not one of them.

Audiolife, I don't know who you were referring to, but no, I didn't just throw some wal mart crap in my trunk to try and beat anybody. I actually shopped around until I found a box that was made to the specs of the JL manual, and no, my amp isn't clipping either. I only have the gain and BB about 1/5 the way up, and I only listen to my volume at most half way up, without the bass maxed out on the head unit. I know that some people out there try to buy 10 of those bass tubes at walmart with 5 of those road gear amps, put it in their ghetto *** beater (sorry, where I live there are crappy cars everywhere) and try to take over the school, but not me. I just listen to it for me, and I really couldn't give a shit if anyone can hear it outside my car, although one day I was listening to some nelly and my dad said he could hear me from the end of the street.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif But if you weren't referring to me, then I'm sorry for yelling, but we gotta save kenny's sweet virgin ***! (half baked lol) Peace. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

umm nope not you . unregestered and volume master tony were the ones i was directing that too. i think if you read the posts all the way it is kinda obvious who i was talking about. i just crack up when people talk JuNk when you da#n well know just by how they are talking they are pretty much novices who think gains are a stupid volume control.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif then talk smack to good people who actually want to learn the right way or already know the right way.

Hey, I was once a volume master. I graduated though, after reading a book or two, and doing a few quality installs. To Unregistered and "volume Master Tony": It's ok, you can get help, it's never too late. Give me a holla, I'll sign you up for my class Volume Masterology 101.
