JL Audio vs. Soundstream - 5 Channel Amps

Looking for anyone with enough amp experience to know this answer.

Trying to decide if this JL amp is worth twice as much as the Soundstream. Will I really notice a difference? Will I regreat getting the Soundstream and not spending $600 for the JL?

For driving 6.5" front MB Quart component speakers PCE216 and a JL 12W3V3 sub.

Soundstream XTA600.5

XSTREAM 5 Channel Amplifier 1200 watts

Bridged RMS Power: 90 watts x 4 ch, + 240 watts x 1 ch.

(Would bridge front and rear)

I'd be looking around more personally. The MB Quarts are somewhat power hungary and you can more power to the front channels for $600.

Just took a quick look on Sounddomain....and you can get a JBL that does 160x2 + 300x1 (both at 4 ohms) for $289 shipped with a warranty. Plus that is actualy a 6 channel amp that would come in nice for future expansion. More power for less money is always a good thing. And no, I really doubt you will will hear the difference if you match the specs up.

The benefit of going with the JL would be a smaller heatsink and the crossover section.

high powered 4 channel and bridge the rear two to the sub ftw ?

The JL 5 channel uses class D for the sub output so bridging an A/B amp wouldn't have the same power I don't think.

I can't figure out if the Soundstream uses class D for it's sub output, their owner's manual doesn't say.
