wassup guys

i was looking for a sub for a pretty small set up, although with very good SQ...i was thinking of just replacing the four speakers with component sets for mad vocal and just wanted some very clean bass to keep up but not drowned it out. i was thinking of a jl audio w7 10'' or 12''...is there a big difference? would the 1'' have decent extension and hit pretty hard? or would u step it up to the 12? also i think these subs are 3 ohm...what amp would be good to push these subs?

i meant 10'' be enough not 1'' lol...but still not sure about these subs...ive heard they are really good but never heard the 10 or 12...heard the 13 but thats too loud for me, plus requires too much power...also im unsure about a good amp to push a w7 10 or 12

actually the w6v2 is a way better sounding woofer. it is my personal favorite SQ driver, as it is many others' too. that is definitly the one i would go with. what do you want as far as ams go? budget? any personal preferences?

definitly. i have a single cm3 12" that keeps up with 8 diamond 6.5"s with 1000 watts on them. if you have the money i would go with the 13" version, just so you have the extra output when you want it. give it like 700-800 watts and you'll be golden.

slash 500 should power the 10 w7 fine. but if you plan to get a 12w7 or 13w7 you'd need a slash 1000.

well if your dead set on jl, i would go for a 13w7 ~$600 and a jl 1000/1 ~700 to power it since they are 3 ohm lol

W6V2 FTW, or maybe a Fi -Q sub if you want a cheaper alternative, Theres alot of alternattives that are cheaper but W7 is more of a SPL sub, although it probably sounds as clean as many SQL subs.

I just got an Ascendent Audio Assassin for $70 that is supposed to keep up with a W6V2, but we will see once I get it and toss it in my friends box (will have a W6V2 10" and Assassin 10" in the same box in same vehicle).

I don't like JL because the people that I know that have JL, think they're shit is amazing because they paid top dollar.

I.E - Some kid w/ 2 10w3's thinks his subs "hit harder" than mine.

meh, i am not a big fan of the w6. everyone on here seems to think it's the best JL sub, but i prefer the w7. i say you go listen to some and decide if they are too loud for ya. i don't think anyone can tell you whats too loud for you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif and as far as an amp goes, it all depends on how much you wanna spend. and the 13 is not a 3 ohm SVC, just the 10 and 12. i say if you want to save money, go with the 10. less for the sub and smaller amp.
