JL Audio Official Power and box size recommendations

Anyone following the JL Audio web site recommendations exactly?

For a Sealed Box for the 13W6V2, it says 18" x 16" x 14.125". Can anyone confirm following the official specs sounds good before I build a box this size?

Also, the site says 500 watts (so 500/1 amp) is "optimum" for the 13W6V2. Can use less than 500 watts for the 12W6V2, but can't go down to 250/1.

So I was thinking since I'd probably have to get the 500/1 for either sub, I might as well get the 13W6 and take advantage of the power, yes?

Or, should I ignore the website and get the 12W6 and crank all 500/1 into it?

I'm pretty sure I don't need the 13W6, the 12 should be enough. But if I'm getting the 500/1 anyways, why not get the 13W6 that matches it...

Official Sealed Enclosure size for the 12W: 18 in. x 14 in. x 12.75 in.

Would you go with that? Or something different. I just want SQ = clean, tight bass.

Also, does the box just have 6 sides to it, or should it have braces inside?

500/1 + 12w6v2 sealed is a nice combo. I had that exact setup (even a similar box) and the dub six took the power like a champ. That amp is right at the power level where they really start to come alive.

BTW the 500/1 is even recommended by JL Audio for that sub in one of their rec boxes. Just cause it is in the "Danger Zone" on their chart it doesn't mean it isnt recommended. It just means don't blast it full tilt for extended periods of time or you may get to experience Magic Smoke ™.

I believe Loyd is testing this exact combo - well 600 watts from a different amp but a watt is a watt and the 500/1 does about 600 watts. He also looks to be using the JL rec box specs.
