Jl Audio box question

I was wondering would 1.87 be enough space for 10" PG RSD10s?

My JL Audio box is good for 3 10"s but i was thinking about cutting a piece of MDF to fill the other sub hole and put a port in it and have it be external.

Would this work or should i just get 3 10"s sealed. and i was on the psp site and calculating ports and it looks like 3" port has around the best size being about 9" long but would that small of a port cause too much port noise for 2 10"s?
