JL Audio 300/4 question

What I'd like to do is to use the 300/4 for just my front speakers (ie: 150 x 2). The unit has two gains. This is used when you are running both front and rear speakers separately. Since I want to use it for just my fronts, is there a way to plug just the front RCA cable into the amp and only have to use one gain?

Some one told me I can do the following in order to have this outcome:

Plug the front RCA's into the front input section & set the input mode to 2 channels. The gains on the front input section will then adjust both sides together.

Is that correct? and will i get the 150 x 2? Here is a picture to help

I didn't bridge my 300/4 when I had it, but I did use only the front input section to run all 4 channels, in this case you still have to adjust the gains independently.

I don't know if this is defeated when bridging, but I would take a guess that it is explained in the manual.
