Can anybody tell me how much power this thing actually put out? Are they overrated alot or just a little bit? I need about 400 watts.

It is a highly regulated amp so 250 is what its going to do.

Alot of people on here say they wont put anything more than there rating ,but I did read a test ( I forgot what mag ) a few years back that recorded 552 watts from a JL 500/1.

So maybe you will get around 270 if your lucky.

If you need 400 watts its probably best to look elsewhere.

This reminds me of a trip I took to the Memphis dealership yesterday. He had a 250 watt Class D amp and I was wondering what in the heck one could power with it???

Getting back to JL Audio... Like Abmobil wrote, they are HIGHLY regulated and will do rated power or a little more. Just don't think a 250/1 v2 is going to put out any more than 300 watts at any load because it WON'T!

I'd look at an arc audio ks 500.1 for about $300.

What ohm load did you need the 400wrms at?

that 250/1 will do rated power @ 1.5-4 ohm & at 10-14 volt input.

Are you all serious? Thats a rip off man. The jl audio 250x1 list for 450 dollars retail and it will only do it's rated power what a joke man. Hell I'm running a kicker 400x1 now thats doing 500 watts right now and I only give 199.00 for it.

Find u an MTX amp, if u need the power at 2ohms. MTX 4250D, MTX 421D. Solid amps...

A 250w amp has its place. Not everyone wants something loud enough to make you plug your ears. A 250w sub would compliment a factory stereo nicely.

250W on a single 12" Boston G2 sounds very adequate.
