This doesn't make me feel very confident that my box (1.75per) will do these justice. Maybe I will just stick with the r's
Definitely go bigger sealed. I just removed the polyfil I had in the box. Apparently I had too much in there and it was having a reverse effect. Sounds much better without the polyfil. A lot more impressed with it now. I can only imagine what another cubic foot of volume might do for it. Thinking about keeping it now if my local sale falls through.

How much did you put in? I mean polyfill is supposed to make the box appear larger to the sub, but then you say a bit bigger box would prob yield better results..Just curious.

1lb poly= 1cf "gain", correct?

But i'm glad it sounds better w/o it.

I think the rule of thumb is like 1 lb of polyfil per 1 cu ft of enclosure volume but I have also seen it stated as 1/2 lb per cu ft. Using polyfil properly can make the sub "see" something like 10-15% more enclosure volume than there actually is. Too much polyfil can actually make the enclosure seem smaller to the sub though. I didn't think I had that much but apparently I was wrong. If the polyfil is too dense it gets to the point where its more solid mass than anything . At that point your enclosure is actually smaller which is what appears may have happened in my case.

I remember reading your supo to tear of baseballish size pieces of polyfil to stuff the box.... I had tore off chunk size pieces in Q 18 box of mine... Redid the polyfil size and WOW! huge sound difference.... Feels like huge db increase!
