jl audio 12w6 experts

was there a 12w6 made with a single voice coil? and was it 4 or 6 ohm? i had a shop made a box with 12w6 back in the mid 90's, i still had the box in storage, but i wanted to give them a try, so the only specs i found was for a dvc sub, but mine is single coil, guess they jack me on that one back then, anyways, whats the best way to wire these guys, parallel?
