i have a jl audio 10W3v2 D2 and one day it stoped working. so i took it out thinking maybe the wire fell off. well the wire was still connected. so i tried hookin up one side (voice coil) and the sub works . when i hook up the other side it doesnt work. well i hooked up just the one side and put it back in the box, powered it to a 250/1 and the sub sounds normal. i know one of the coils is gone but what i want to know is how will the sub handle with just one coil. It sounds good even with a good two hours of pounding. and also is it safe for my amp???

you cant just hook up one coil...to have it engage properly you need both coils hooked up. but first get a multi-meter out, check for continuity on the coils. if you get a tone of any sort, your coils have melted together

since the last time I posted the sub still knocks hella hard. i bump it for long periods and it sounds good. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
