my amp keeps giving me power and low (yellow light) and there are no subs connected but it only happens when its in my car ....my friend sold me the amp a short while ago and it works great in his car tried it in my bros car and my neighbors car and it works ....called JL and they said get it serviced so i took it to a local shop that services JL audio and they said the amp is good ...so i dont understand why is the light coming on when the subs arent connected can it be something else ?

btw the shop was charging me 175 to rerun some wires and they wouldnt tell me what it can possibly be of course so they can over charge me ...they asked who did my wiring i said i did and he was pretty impressed ....so im thinking maybe thats why he didn't want to tell me what it can be

Since the problem only occurs in your car, it has to be something specific to your car. We already went through your ground issue, and you aren't getting the low volt light any more, the remote is working, and there are no speakers connected. The only thing left are the RCAs and head unit.

Try disconnecting the RCA's and power up the amp with just the power, ground, and remote. Do you still get the Low Ω light?

yes sir it still comes on...i dont know what else too do...im thinking of selling it and getting a Rockford Fosgate T1500-BDCP what do you think about that amp?

The RF is a good amp, but I wouldn't suggest buying a new amp until you are sure the 1000/1 is the problem. It would **** to buy a new amp hook it up and have more problems.

Do you still have the 500/1? Does it work?

Is the 1000/1 mounted horizontally or vertically?

What happens if you connect the subs to the 1000/1?

the 500/1 is working good i had it working in the car before i sold it to my bro ..i even put it back in when the 1000/1 started giving me this prob and it worked ..but the amp is pointed with the fins up as recommended and i have tested it with a test speaker and it still gives the light ...i also tried my friends alpine pdx 1.600 and it works great so i have no idea why the jl amp would be giving me a hard time

This is just a thought but is it possible there is something loose inside the amp. What happens if you just lay the amp flat on the floor of the trunk and power it up? Maybe, when the amp is mounted vertically the speaker terminals contact the case and ground out, or some other loose part contacts the case. I'm sure when you took the amp in for service they just powered it up on their bench, so it's something they might not have caught. Oh well, just one more thing to try, other than that possibility I'm stumped.

i thought the same thing but to pay 180 for them to tell me the same thing its not worth it all he did was open it he said nothing was wrong he powered it no other lights came on .....im just frustrated with the whole thing it works in other peoples cars execpt mine that is just ridiculous

no matter how it mounts it still gives me the yellow light ive tried almost everything and before i spend 300 refurbishing it i rather sell it cheap and dump my $ into a new amp
