JL Amp Vs. Planet Audio Amp

I went to a car audio store and i asked the help there what amp would be better to power four subs? They had several brands there including JL and Planet Audio. I was leaning toward getting the JL but they said Planet Audio Amps give out more "true power" than the JL's. The planet Audio is an 800 watt amp. I was looking at getting the JL 500/1, but after what the guy said, I don't know what to do? So i need some advice, thanks.

Well the JL's are usually underrated and that 500/1 is a great amp in the 500watt series. It is a little expensive but worth it if that is what you want. Planet audio is probably rated just about on point maybe a little over. iv heard a couple od the 2500D's and they were OK nothing id do backflips over.

I have a 500/1.... amazing amazing amp. I love this thing. I don't know anything about Planet Audio so i have no idea if it is 800 max or RMS. I do know the 500/1 is 500 RMS though. U also gotta look at how many ohm it is rated at. the 500/1 is anywhere from 2-4 ohm, the planet audio might be only @ 2 ohm and may be less if wired at 4 ohm. the JL is also very power effeciant.

the jl is rated 500 watts at 1.5ohms, all the way up to 6 ohms... its hard to say about the planet audio, considering u didnt tell us what amp... both amps are good tho.. i remember when planet audio first came out, people had nothing but good things to say about them, and i still hear good things about them today... so i wouldnt be disappointed with either amp.

im gonna tell you, i am biased toward planet audio. they can do everything that they say they can. they are one of the cleanest amps ive ever heard...thds around .04, which kicks ***. the jl is a good amp, but your going to pay more..i doubt youd be able to tell much difference with a comproble PA amp...the PA4002 would be perfect

oooops sorry, didnt see tha tyou wanted to power 4 subs...yea all the class ds are bad *** too....dependin on what kind of load your lookin to run them under, the 1250d or the 2250d should be great
