jl 8w6 oldschool *pics*

thanks for the info, i do want to get these fixed however. i like the 8 w6's i think they sound awesome for 8's. does anyone know an indepedent subwoofer repair place that i could possibly send these to?

I to have been a longtime fan of the original 8w6. I have tried alot of the newer subs on the market and still come back to these as they have a very appealing sound and require such tiny enclosures.

I had two 8w6's that needed repair I must have contacted 40 different places on getting foam surrounds for the subs with no luck two places sold me surrounds that they said would work but one ended up not fitting and the other wouldn't hold up with deeper excursions, I have also been in contact with others who have looked for years to find a foam repllacement for these subs without luck, it seems there are a few surrounds out there that will fit but alters the spec sound and becomes apparent when running them with an 8w6 with factory surounds.

I ended up taking my subs to the JL dealer I deal with and asked if they could send the subs to JL for repair JL told the dealer that they had 40 brand new 8w6 subs left at there factory and that they could be special ordered for $120 each but after they are gone theyre gone..I went this route and purchased three and sold the extra's for a nice profit. Good luck
