JL 500/1 with RE SE 12 - Ported or Sealed?

So far this community has been great and helped me choose a sub that didn't break my bank but I have one last question for my install. I am going with a single RE SE 12 and I am having trouble deciding on a ported or sealed box. Reading other threads in regards to the SE many say go ported and many say stay sealed which is why I can't decide. I even talked to 2 different installers and one said go ported, one said go sealed.

I listen to EVERYTHING, rock, rap, trance/techno, alternative so my taste in music varies greatly. This will be installed in a Jeep Cheerokee SRT8 so I have plenty of room for either type box. I have no plans on adding more bass besides the single 12 but I will be eventually add some higher quality components and rear fill.

Its all personal preference..

Personally i'd go ported, and I suggest you do too as you listen to rap.

i say ported, with sealed your going to want more bass probably (I always do)

not true. I did an install for this guy, with a 12 RE SE. sealed box off 600 RMS

in a 98 tahoe, it was all the bass he needed.

sounds amazing sealed, but with 600 watts you might want to go ported

Thanks for all the responses! Gonna go with a ported box as specced from the RE website. I can always turn down the gain if it's "too much bass" (yeah right).
