JL 500-1 pushing to 2 10w3?

You need to wire the coils of the individual subs in series and then wire the subs in parallel. That will give you a 4 ohm load to the amp allowing it to make full power.
So if i rewire my subs so its a 4 ohm load, how much power will each sub be getting, 250watts? I was told that i could not rewire the coils of the individual subs, if i can is it something that i can do easily?

If they're DVC subs you can and pretty easily.

Are there two terminals on the box? If so and each is reading 7something DCR, just wire the + of each of those terminals to the + on the amp and the - on each to the amp -. Done. 4ohm nominal load on the amp. 500w total, 250 to each sub.

So this for sure will give me about 4ohms to the amp? Thats nice and easy

how about running just one 10 W3v3-4 on the 500.1? will it be able to handle it, and sound clean without distortion?

I think i might get it since i need a new/better amp.

The 10w3 is a dvc at 4ohms and 300watts...the 500-1 will be two much

well its 300 optimal but can handle 500. But I cant keep it lower? That sucks then because then i ca't really get a JL amp a 250/1 isnt powerful enough and 500/1 is too much.

Some other ppl told me to get the 500/1 in the other thread.

Can anyone else confirm this is right before i go and do it?

I'm right. You have 2 8 ohm loads. You wire them in parallel and the result is 4 ohms.

Whoever was thinking that 250 wasn't enough for a 300rms subs needs to rethink that. The difference between 250 and 300 is less than a dB under perfect conditions. The 500/1 would give you more headroom but the 250/1 will do just fine on a single sub.

The w3v3 are SVC subs FWIW.

JL designed the w3's to be powered in pairs by the 500/1 series amps. That has been their equation. That is what the dealers reccomend for their pre-loaded boxes.Everyone has answered your questions about wiring and rms capabilities. The 500/1 has a lot of adjustments, and the amp has your 500 rms ready at all times.Jl has some new stealth installs for Cdddilac p/u,also the Chevy Avalanche that involves the 500/1 and a par of the w3-3's.See JL's website @JLaudio.com to select your many options available to you.

i am about to go exchange my amp for the jl 500/1. I hope i can get a good price on it as they messed my setup up (6th ave elec ppl). I will let you guys know how the single w3 sounds with it once im back. I just wish the remote came with it, instead of it being another 40 bucks. lol

also isnt the W3v3 a single voice coil 4 ohm sub? I always thought it was...
