Well I have had the sub for little over 2 years now. I guess im bored and want to ask a question. I have it in a sealed custom box facing up. Its in my spare tire space. Its on a JL audio 1000/1. Why cant I hear it hit the low? When I play 3 6 mafia - late nite tip. It doesnt hit the low and i guess in other songs also with low bass.

check the subsonic filter (assuming the 1000/1 has one)

Ya I know ported boxes, sound better on the low. Is it all sealed boxes you dont get the low when its cranked at full volume?

You wouldn't likely gain extension from going ported, but you could tune it low to emphasize the low end. Sealed boxes have greater extension (being how low the system will actually play) than a vetned system due to the unloading affect belowing tuning on vented subs.

^^ all the response curves i've seen you'll gain more low end from ported boxes tuned low, as well as the boost in the freqs on the lower end.
