JL 12w7 vs. Bravox eds

im new to the audio scene. so i have come here for advice on these two subs.

I have heard the 12w7's and i like what i hear. A dealer told me that the Bravox eds is the called w7 killer, but he didnt have one on display. So i really would like to hear about the bravox. So any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

OF course the dealer will tell you that. He's after a sale.

Bravox is a well known name to some, but not many. They make quality products, but this is a NEW driver and not many, if any, people will have any firsthand experience with it. Mighty ignorant of him to compare it to a driver that is more than proven throught the industry and what many consider to be "the best."

MTX touts the 9500 series as W7 killers and while some will agree, many do not. It's all marketing. Some live up to the hype, others do not.

Are you sure he didn't mean Bravo edx? That's their big SPL woofer, which is absurdly overpriced. I can't find anything about any eds woofer though.

For SQ and linear output, it definitely won't hold a candle to the W7. It's just a standard overhung design, stiff suspension, lots of BL, meant to absorb a lot of power. It doesn't displace anywhere near enough to equal the W7 in displacement, let alone surpass it. It also won't be anywhere near as linear.

Unless you are planning on doing pure SPL competition, it would be a pretty foolish purchase. Even then, I sincerely doubt it would be difficult to find better driver for that application as well...
