JL 12w3v1 Comparisons?

I can pick some w3's up real cheap, the first models.. for around $40 a piece, any good? I've never actually herd them before but i have herd the following, please tell me how the JL's compare to Alpine Type R's and Kicker L7's! I currently am running a single type r in 2.5 cubes ported to 34hz, throwing ~500w at it and i think it sounds pretty good...how would the W3 compare? Thanks guys!

Good subs for 40.00 a piece. Technology on subs has advance some since those subs, so if I had to guess they could probably at best keep up with the L7's or Type R's. Especially at a fraction of the price

They won't be nearly as loud as either of the other two that you mentioned but will be much more accurate with their output. If you're out for the most output you can get, don't bother.
