JL 10W6V2 vs Boston G5

I'll see if I can get an IDMAX used. The IDQ is good but I don't want less output, than the 10W6V2, so I figure an IDMAX10 would have better sq and more spl.

I already have the 10W6V2 but I am not in love with the the sound, at least in my install and since my trunk is small I don't have much of a choice as far as stealth boxes go. I therefore have to find a sub that sounds good in the box I have.

The jl W6v2 isnt sloppy too me at all but i guess enclosure and power play a factor in any sub not performing well. Ived hear a idmax in a wrong enclosure play sloppy sooooo

Before buying a new sub, try building a new box for your w6, if that doesnt work then try the G5 or IDMAX or what ever.

10w6v2 isnt all that of a great sounding sub, it doesnt go low or doesnt seem to have that punch you would want in a high end sub.

Boston G5's will have much tighter bass, for much less money.

IDMAX is one of best all around subs you will find, tight dry acourate bass,without all that boominess of JL sounds.

So i guess you are looking into a small box as well!

if you heard the G5 & you like it, then buy it & try it out.

remember you box is just as important as the sub.

for the price the G5 will outshine most of those woofers in that compact of an enclosure op is going with .7cuft

The stealth box I have in my G37 is well made and a good size for many subs. It is a custom box for the vehicle, but was made with the 10W6V2 in mind. Like I said, since my trunk is so small, the stealth box has to stay, but I am willing to search to find the best match for it.

I have an ARC Audio 10D4 which actually sounds a little tighter, but doesn't have the output that the 10W6v2 has. I guess my next subs to tray are the G5 and maybe an IDMax if I can find a 10" cheap.

i give credit to the W6 for that impact bass they put out but IDQ still sound better.

Yes but will the IDQ have the output of an IDMAX10, 10w6v2 or G5?

IDMAX will have the most output & impact of the four.

IDQ will have more impact then the w6,plus sound cleaner then g5

Boston g5 will go deeper then the w6,but wont sound as good as ID products.

JL-w6 will have better upper midbass which help blend you front stage well,but lacks the lower end.

the g5,w6 can & will sound sloppy with some songs verse i think the ID products are clean tight acourate as with more of well balanced out sub verse the other 2 brands.

but remember the box is just as important as the sub.

when it comes to 10's it really hard to find a lot of output in 1-10inch sub, The IDMAX is a SQ_SQL beast, not a lot of subs will or can sound as good as ID products.

The G5 boston will sound good in a smaller box and require less power to make it louder.

This is one of the better posts about the sound of these subs.

The problem is finding the ID at decent prices. Woofers Etc sells them at almost full pop, so I guess I have to wait for them to come along used.

find a dealer near you see they will cut you a deal, i paid $600 for 2 12 IDQv.3 and a custom seal box.
