JL 10w6V2 sounds like crap !

Ok maybe I botched my frequencies... maybe its not as high as 250hz that im expecting..

What i really meant to say is that there are some frequencies, especially in some Hip Hop tracks, that are clearly meant to be played by the sub, but there is virtually no output..

maybe its closer to 100hz than 250hz ? either way, 50hz down, the really 'resonant' frequencies, that boom - are obnoxiously loud..

They wern't able to build a custom box for me, since their charges for custom box making start at 150, and 500 for glass, and go up depending on complexity. obviously this is outrageous since ive built over a couple of hours boxes myself..

(had two assassin 8's in a previous car - purchased from a forum member)

out of the options:

1) building a box of spec to keep the 10w6

2) two 10" G2's sealed

3) single 12" G2 sealed

highest output going to two 10's, overal SPL and SQ going to the 10w6.. how would you rank or guage the option of one single 12 in this case?

Honestly if you already have the w6, I would just build a proper enclosure for it. Bottom end was so boomy due to the ginormous enclosure it's in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Need some help guys ,

I just installed an MTX 600/1 amp and a 10w6v2 in my range rover.

I was upsold from two Boston 10" G2's in boston's own factory box with the expectation from the sales guy that 1x10w6 would pound harder.

Turns out once installed the sound quality is horrible.

from 40-80 hz, its incredibly loud and boomy, totally unresponsive and muddle with virtually no "hit"

above 100 hz, there is a total drop off in SPL. absolutely zero midbass.

ive screwed around with the crossover knobs on the amp and positioning of the box etc with little results.

its a prefab pro form sealex box ~1.2 cubic feet which i know is nearly twice the recommended size for this speaker, but im shocked as to how the speaker will basically refuse to play anything between 100-250hz.

When i called the installer, he immediately tried to sell me a custom enclosure and/or fiberglass enclosure.

i was like wtf ? i already spent a couple hundred more than i expected and now you're hitting me up for another 500 ?

thoughts ? help please !

Line out from factory amp to MTX running bridged at 2ohm.

First, I doubt 1 W6 will pound harder than 2 G2s, but should definitely sound better. Although I admitedly have no experience with G2s but know that the W6 sounds great.

Secondly, you don't want MIDBASS from a SUBWOOFER. I think even running them to 100hz is too much.

Lastly, I have a sneaking suspicion that you may just be a dipshit.
