sup ya'll,

new here... i got this jl amp that cuts off at high volume. got a yellow top battery, 4 gauge pwr n neg cables. 5 farad tsunami capacitor. check the volt on the ampwith the voltmeter and amp still cuttin off. two amps, 4 ga from battery to cap.. then 4ga neg cable to jl amp. is there anything else i should look at.. somthing im missing??? im thinkin about upgrading to 0/1 ga wires but i wanna ask for ya opinion first.

thanks...

What ohm load are you running on that amp? 4 gauge wire seems a little small for an amp that size. I've heard that the jl amps dont hold up well at lower ohm loads even though they are rated for it. Never had any first hand experience with one though.

I just checked out the manual for that amp and jl actually says in the manual that the amp was only designed to take four gauge wire.So no more and no less than 4 gauge I guess.I'd double check your ohm load and your gain settings. It supposedly does the same power from 1.5 ohms to 4 ohms so I guess you could always try wiring up to 2 or 4 ohms(not sure where you are at now) and see if your problem goes away.
