JL 1000.1 amp

First of all I only have this amp cus my gf gave it to me..

My question is.. is it a pretty power hogging amp?

Cus I got an Optima Yellow Top in the front

and Big 3 done in 0 Gauge Knu Wiring

And I still get dimming at times..

for 1k RMS is that normal??

no I didn't have dimming and had a stock batt up front with big 3 and 950 rms

Why defend yourself and say the only reason you got the amp is cause your girl gave it to you. Its a good amp its just not the forum boner here.

I've checked and rechecked my grounds.. I even go to another forums where it's specifically all about the truck I own and I used the most common ground they mostly use..

So grounds aren't the issue I know that for sure...

However I do remember when installing this (Long *** time ago, when I didn't know shet) my dumbass friend actually touched the positive and ground together and created a spark... Right before I was going to ground it and hook up the positive to the amp...

Could the wiring be shorted out somehow and causing bad connections or ???

yes but not when its $1000 at the store. thats $1/watt

by the way Rusty, I like this amp.. it really is a good amp.. I personally just wouldn't pay the asking price for it..

there is a thread on here comparing both jl 1000/1 vs the pdx 1000.1 and more then a few people stated that the jl is a power hungry amp. so maybe that's the issue you're having. good luck with it!

it is internally regulated so you shouldnt be getting dimming

prob have a problem with overall electrical gett a dmm and see what its drawing when running

just follow your wiring and see if something is wrong with it. also, head to autozone and have them check your alt and batt to make sure theyre good

I'm going to check all the wiring tommorow.. and my wiring is only 4 guage from batt to amp.. so I might just upgrade it to 0 gauge from Knu sometime soon..

Batt is brand new.. less than a month old and was tested before going in..

Alt is good.. my dads a mechanic at Chevy and he tested it last week..

Idk wtf is wrong..

Maybe new 0 gauge wiring from batt to amp will fix it??

Any other suggestions??

chck your fuses might be compromised but still look good gl

Yeahh I'll try the 0 guage in two weeks.. I'm saving for tires for my 23s right now..

I'll let you guys know if it helped or not..

by the way fuses are good.. I literally checked them all.. haha don't ask.. long tuesday night..

Any other suggestions??

Can't really think of anything else myself but if you can let me know..
