Jeep Sub Idea

I've got a 01' Wrangler and I have been racking my brain of a way to have a 10" sub without taking up space. My first idea was to build a fiberglass enclosure to take the place of the factory sub in the center console, but I'd have to go with a 8" and I already have a 10" MB Quart Ref. So after sitting in the jeep and brainstorming I've decided to try and fiberglass a "soundbar sub enclosure". It will be directly behind the factory soundbar and still allows headroom for rear passengers, although I usually have the back seat out to use it for cargo room. Here are a few pics of the MDF frame I built earlier to begin the fiberglass process. Those metal mounting brackets are 1/8 x 1 1/4 steel hand bent to wrap around each side of the roll cage. It will be bolted to the cage. Do you guys think that the vents I cutout will still allow the sub to move air properly between that larger MDF panel? Let me know of your thoughts on this.

thats interesting, I have a 1999 wrangler and nver really thought about building a sub into the sound bar... Where are you putting the amp for the sub?

And to answer your question about being able to push enough air through the panel.. I doubt it.. You've got to really shoot for a certain frequency you want to tune your enclosure. If I was you I would plug those holes and use it sealed.

edit: on another note.. i just took another glance at what you are doing and I can't really visualize where you are going with the bottom of the frame.

I'm thinking he's planning on wrapping the whole thing in fleece and glassing it. I would cut the pass through holes bigger. I would also make the rear standoff for the fleece both deeper and make it run almost the whole length of the main frame piece. As it looks right now, I don't think you'll get enough airspace inside it for the sub to work well. Otherwise, original and cool design. Nice wood work, too.

Looks to be a pretty good design, real original.

However, you're going to have to think of a way to protect it from those d-bags who want to gyank it.
