jbl..rockford fosgate amps?

both are great "name brand" quality amps. rockford amps are underrated and if any, their compeition would be alpine, kicker, and mtx. im sure jbl is in the same line-up.

jbl...i have their 6x9 gto939 series speakers and they sound great and havent given me any prob for 2 years now. and i gave it a beating with turning the bass on the HU with those.

questioning on how many watts is variable.

my sister thinks 200watts rms in a subwoofer is plenty whereas i think 1000watts is not enough.

but 150 watts rms for a pair of component speakers would be plenty enough imo. but subwoofer(s), not for me.

ask yourself what you want from your audio system. then decide what amp you really want/need/like that suits your needs.

I think the JBL products are pretty solid but or the two I would take the RF hands down over the JBL. Rockford has been setting the bar in the industry since the beginning.

thanks! do u use a rockford fosgate amp the one i saw is only like 150 watts do u think i need more power??
How much power you need is entirely dependant on the intended application. Is 150 watts enough to do justice on an 800 watt subwoofer? Doubtful. Is 150 enough to satisfactorily drive a set of good coaxials or maybe a component set? Much more likely.
Exactly what is it that you're wanting to power with that 150 watts?

The only RF amp I've ever owned was a rather aged old-school Punch 150 (one of the original ones) It was bought BNIB by a friend of mine who used it for a few years on some Punch 10s. It then got sold a couple of times and I eventually ended up with it. I used it for awhile and the original owner has since bought it back from me. It's over 10 years old and cosmetically in pretty sad shape. Mechanically, though, it's still rock-solid.

People I have known who owned JBL amps never had any issues with them.

As both JBL and RF make pretty solid amps, IMO, I would suggest get whichever one gives you the power you need at the best price.

I see your building a custom box. What size and kind ? That will have an affect on how much power you need as well. Sealed box will require more power to come close to the output of a ported enclosure with less power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
