Out of those 3, I doubt if you could go wrong woth the type R's. A lillte more money, but a better quality sound.

I wish I could hear the darn things. No one has Type R on display that I can listen to only type S and Kenwood and JBL speakers are like impossible to find set up to listen to either , at least their component sets. Everyone only shows coaxial speakers.. jeez. The one thing I was worried about with the Type R's was that they are wanting 70rms and the amp only pushes 50rms and the guy at the audio shop i was at last said if you don't give them enough power they sound like crap.

The alpines are nice, the jbl's are 2 ohms so you can get more power to them from your amp, so thats a plus too.

yeah its a toss up between JBL and Alpine in my head. Like I said, only thing im worried about with the alpine is not having enough power but the JBL ill have plenty for because they are 2ohm

I ran a set of JBL GTO comps off HU power for a few years and they sounded very nice and got pretty loud. Think they were 92dB efficiency.

Never heard a Kenwood speaker I liked. Didn't like the Type S's that I heard either.

why dont u get a new alpine amp to go w/ the type r's ...i think it will be worth it

GO with the r's,,, I had a set of 6 1/2 comps and 6x9 comps in my monte.. and the bass is ridiculous for the price. and they sound pretty well at loud volumes.... i got both sets for under 220 at IKESOUND.COM and it only took 3 days to get to me... peece

I just bought a set of older JBL GTO (I think they are GTO - link) 5.25 coaxes. They'll be in stock locations off HU power, so I'll write up a review when I get them in.
