It's war time...

Idiot Rumsfeld.

He should have listened to the Army Chief of Staff when he said that the miltary will need way over 200,000 troops on the ground

to maintain order during occupation. Instead he blew him off.

And whats up with the mobile Medic Units that the army has?

My coworker at the hospital is in the army reserves. She belongs to a mobile hospital. They can be called and given 1 weeks notice... 2 weeks for deployment. Then the hospital can be set up within 2 days.

A lot of beds too-- 500+. So why arent they being deployed now when the hospitals in iraq have inadequate resources to deal with the volume of sick and wounded? Its B.S. The secretary of defense is to blame. Rumsfeld should listen to the Military when they say that they need more resources.

Originally posted by CarAudioAddict yeah, but could you imagine if cold fusion was used as a weapon?

Fusion reactions release 100X or more energy tan fission reactions. Plus add in the fact that an uncontained fusion reaction would continue indefinatly, makes a cold fusion weapon much worse than a nuke.

I'm assuming that you mean it lasts longer than a H-bomb. We all know that radioactivity dissipates, but never totally goes away. It just reduces to safe levels. I have no real knowledge of this. Know any good links on it for weapons? I found some stuff, but it doesn't talk about its use for bombs.

Actually I mean that, say lets take a hypothetical fission reaction that produces 10 joules of energy. A fusion reaction of equal intensity would produce 1000 joules of energy.

In a Nuclear fission War-head (nuke), that energy is released mostly as heat, light and shockwaves. Now take a 100 Megaton nuke and rig it for fusion, that would be the equilivant of a 10,000 megaton nuke.

Fusion reaction can also expand, indefinatly (either until contained, or out of matter) meaning 1 explosion would pretty well destroy the planet.

Just guessing from my (very) basic understanding of the two reactions. I would NOT want to be on the same planet as that weapon.

As of yet....... NOTHING

just the unconfirmed reports from a few months back. I'm guessing since there has been no mention of confirmation, that all the tests turned up negative

maybe not but the war was still better than trying to learn arabic and being forced into beliving in a false god. the war was the right thing to do. sadam has been a problem before and was quickly becoming that way again. i call the war prevenative maintenence.

we are going to be fighting a lot of wars if the reason is to stop religious oppression...there are plenty of places out there with bad leaders and persecution of ethnic groups...thats not a good enough reason to put thousands of american lives at risk. or at least IMO it isnt. sometimes we just have to stay out of things.

Sadam had his chance to get rid of the chemical and biological weapons when the inspectors were there, but he decided to force them out and then said that he had destroyed these weapons without having the inspectors there. This makes no sense. Why would you put yourself in this position. Sadam has had more than a few people persecuted, I believe the numbers are up around 2 million or more, which is quite high. There were also oil benefits and economic benefits for both the U.S. and the people of Iraq.
