It's time for war.

I'm sure all of you have that one friend who is completely oblivious to car audio and has it set in his mind that JL (or whatever other company) makes the baddest subs on the planet.

Well, I think I may be just that type. I'm brand new to the whole thing an gearin up to get my first stereo. JL was just what I was lookin at. I'm sure they aint the loudest by far, but ah heared they was real good ifn ya wanted both spl an sq. So ahm lookin at a JL 12" W6v2 or a W7 (one is all i need in a tiny little 300ZX). Ah liked what I heard in the showrom, and ah can't find all the brans to hear em in person in my rinkydink town. Most o my listenin is Celtic, Irish folk, an symphony. Ah certainly don't plan to compete, but ah just want enuff extra power to blow back the common street-thumpers that pull up next to me in town. Is JL at least better enuff than the usual to do that?

Take some advice from an old goofy bastard that has been there and tried that...build your system to make YOU happy rather than keeping up or passing the kool kiddies....
best advice in this thread, byy farrr!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Don't waste money on somethin' you can't completely enjoy in your daily driver. I've tried the educate by example thing, with Memphis and eclipse stuff, they just don't care.

That's like telling the frat guy that yea, North Face makes great fleeces but Columbia is just as cheap and the same quality, it just doesn't say North Face.

They don't care, people pay for brand name's most the time, though plenty of us don't buy because of looks or brand, the majority of consumers do, and you can't change that with a loud system. Just as I can't change it by wearing my Columbia fleece jacket and staying warmer than others.

You won't change their mind.

Just use your equipment and install it correctly. Your equipment separates you from them which is sweet in it itself.

My system is so unique in my area locals just don't know what to think. Let alone that they're 18" woofers.

You might just run across that guy with the W7 and a small crowd around and prove your point.

Gah! Yer scarin me! I was just planin on a W7. Ah dont want to be the absolute lousedst, ah just want to drown out a common thumper with some nice Bach on pipe organ so ah can hear MY music an not THEIRS. Can the W7 at least be good fer that? Is it at leas better than what most those guys who boom out loud all day long are using?

well the W7 and the nightshade have 2 different goals in mind, Both are great drivers and if you got 50 people to listen to both you would probably have a split opinion based on preference, good luck with your install, should be loud.

The W7 is a fantastic sub for someone who likes SQ. I've heard a 12 and I was extremely impressed with the sound of it. Even the older 12w6's I had I love. But the W7 is not a loud subwoofer. It is not designed to be loud and it never will be.

that all depends on your definition of loud, it is loud for a sq woofer, id actually consider it more sql if you dare.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Exactly man.

Now if the owner of that W7 doesn't know that then that makes it even better for you....lol

Yea it is pretty loud for being in a sealed box but it is nothing compared to my nightshade....
