On here that is like saying that no one has a Hifonics sub amp.

The guy obviouly has money to burn. Let him burn it. Buy one of each and decide. Send me the one he doesn't want and I will see that it is disposed of properly.

no. we will mic my sub and then pull out the sub and box and put the w7 in with a box from jl. everything will stay the same except the box and speaker. sorry for the vagueness

How do you intend to match the power to the sub with single amp?

Most XXX are d2's.....and 13w7s are dual 1.5's. Just curious.

Orion 2500D will accomplish a .75 ohm load quite nicely actually!! I dont know that much about the RE line up so I can't argue about them. I have the 13w7 so I know a lot about them. And the W7 is more SQ than anything the RE are supposedly SPL monsters... So you really cant compare them!!

RE are ACTUALLY SQ drivers... they just have spl as a by-product.

If they have the same amount of excursion, I would think the one with more motor strength would win(more force behind it) but who knows..

If you WinISD pro a 12" W7 and a 12" XXX they are both extremly similar in the same boxes. I think the W7s might have the "I'm hearing better SQ because my wallet is alot lighter" affect on people, but from what I've experienced, they both sound good... extremly good, I just prefer the good sound of the XXX combined with the not-so-light wallet...

Like I said I have no clue on RE products so I can't say what is and what isn't!! I don't know many people with RE anyways. People around here are into BestBuy and Curcuit City Stuff except for the very few audiophilist!!

For most musical applications, the two drivers are going to be roughly equal.

The linear displacement of the XXX vs the W7 is extremely close. The 12w7 will get louder than the XXX 12 in terms of linear output (not by much), and the XXX 15 and 13w7 should be about dead even.

They're both excellent drivers, and honestly, I would consider them to be roughly equal for musical purposes. The W7s have a lot more suspension travel, but beyond that they have roughly equal capabilities.

In terms of which is a better bargain, clearly the XXX...

well, i told the jl guy what amp i had (mmats 1400.1) and he still said $50 says i will mic a higher spl number than you. if he wants to run his sub at 3 ohms on an amp that is rated power at 1 ohm he can be my guest. i will be bringing my ohm meter along just to make sure he doesnt wire it up to .75 ohms. no way im going to even let him attempt to burn up my amp!!

Dude your MMATS should be fine for 30 seconds @ .75 ohms, if your going to wire yours to the amx let him wire his to the max. Im about to hook a orion 2500d up in my taurus and meter it I will post results!!!
