Driving to work today... On the interstate, im in the slow lane, a semi in the middle lane, and regular traffic in the fast lane. The semi comes into my lane, and hits my rear quarter panel. I get the "pit manuever" crash, but instead of going straight into a wall or something.. I get turned sideways onto the front of the semi... So its like my car is the Cross of a T. I get pushed down the interstate for like a tenth of a mile like that, the semi finally slows down, and my car gets turned 180* and turns towards the fast lane. Well, a lady driving a pontiac vibe hits my passenger side rear tire, and well... The pics show ya what happened there. From what ive been told by my description to the insurance company, its border line total loss/repairable.

That wreck was one of the scaryest things in my life, and it was the first wreck ive ever been in. My car was crazy low... I wonder what would have happened had it not been lowered.. There was absolutely no body roll to the car... No air bags deployed, nothing on my body is hurting. I guess im just lucky that i wasnt injured.

Its going to be both doors, both rear quarter panels, rear bumper, wheels, and rear suspension/axle... its not just quite the doors bro.

How is that considered borderline totaled...replace the doors, and you are done. Whoever your insurance is is a waste of time.

It would have to get repainted anyway.. The paint peeled away from the damage. You cant really see it from the angles of the pictures i took, but there are a few spots where it had happened

It's a little much, but try your local paintless dent repair company. They won't get it perfect, but pretty **** close.. For a lot less than a body shop..

It is a unibody car and there are many, many alignment points that have to be checked. For that kind of collision at that speed, thinking you "just replace the doors and you are done" is about as far from reality as we can go on this. I know that is not what you want to hear, but honest, it sounds like this was a considerable impact on the car, and that the estimate they gave that it is near a total loss has to do with the fact that there are several of these alignment points that are no longer correct and you are talking about having to dismantle areas of the car to try to restore those points to OEM dimensions.

The car will be worthless to sell if you try to do a backyard fix for this type of damage, because all the alignments I mentioned do not get addressed in your garage. A Carfax will show this collision. It will also provide any information on whether it was repaired or what damage there was. Do you want to keep it that bad?

Unload the car after you make your property settlement, but keep open an injury claim (separate claim number), check your state's statute of limitations on injury claims, and do not settle that claim until you are sure you are clear of any problems with your own body. Also check your own insurance for medical payments (also referred to as PIP coverage), if you need medical or chiropractic treatment.

you're not that low //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif, but glad you made it out of the situation alive! just have their insurance fix the car, bring it to a reputable privately owned shop, maybe you can talk them into letting you pick up aftermarket parts :}

Looks like quater panel, rear panel, all doors, and rear bumper fender.

Could also be in need of a new rear axel on the wheel, and the wheel is bent too, so new rim. No way is it total loss.

I have been in two accidents and the insurance company both times screwed me. THE VEHICLES WERE NOT TOTALED BUT THEY SAID THEY WERE!!! I would argue with them that it is worth repairing and if they don't give in take the money they give you buy the salvage rights for it and get it fixed. A buddy of mine had a passat that someone ran into the back of rely hard they totaled it he did the same took the money and got it fixed and he even had like 80 bucks left after the repairs haha. But if even if you dont want to repair it buy the salvage rights anyway and sell it as a whole or piece by piece that will be some good money there.
