Since a few caraudio guru's are also computer geeks, here's a question for ya...

i have a client who needs to remote in from home to her work computer and work... fine, installed a program, works great... BUT she wants to print work files from home to her home printer... she tried emailing but files were too big... anyone know of a free or semi-cheap solution? Was thinking that if she scanned to PDF and emailed to herself, it would work... i know paying for a "pro" version allows for file transfer, but remote printing??? let me know... Thanks!

nope not gonna happen. Shes using a remote desktop not a VPN to the network. she can view and modify but they still remain on the remote computer so she wont be able to print. You can run a VPN where her computer is connected to the network so she can view the files on her machine and print them, cause you need to keep in mind even though she can see them now she really isnt viewing them on her computer she is using her computer as a screen to the other computer. Now VPN setup is gonna be expensive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I run em on several of my clients networks.

VPN = no fun.

if you wanna get tricky, you could prolly teach her how to SSH into a server she sets up on the home PC, set up a FTP and upload the file(s), then use SSH to access them and print them. but thers no telling if they will print or not... cuz she wont be there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

fax = best way to send a physical document aside from taking it yourself, and fedex.

she want to be able to print to her home printer not the office printer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif that setting will allow her to access the remote printer

so why cant she fax them? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

im pretty sure you can send a digital copy to a telephone, and not have to do it by hand..

sure u can get RADMIN. radmin is more of a remote administration tool rather than remote desktop. Its like a "legal trojan" hehe.

im sure u can find it for free somewhere

i dunno if u can print but u can transfer files

someone mentioned SSH... i think ssh would be a pain in the *** on a windows computer, assuming shes using windows.
