Maybe it's different because you weren't around in the old days, idk. Goob doesn't exactly have the greatest track record with being active on this site, it was neglected for years. Giving him ANY kind of extra compensation on top of all the ads we're subjected to just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I support this forum, I support car audio and the desire for noobs to learn, but frankly I still do not support Goob. I like a lot of the changes he's been making, and I may change my mind eventually, but right now my $3 is worth more to me than having a different color name and bigger pm box.

Again, Goob is not into car audio, so the complaints about his previous absence and/or desire to turn a profit aren't very fair imo. True he use to not come here much, and even Im guilty of bitching about it before. But he listened, and he's here daily now, and working a lot in the background to improve the site even when his name doesn't show up at the bottom of the screen as being online.

A few years ago he was almost never around, and he caught a ton of hell over it (that bad taste in your mouth). Now he's here all the time, and making changes he hopes people will like (and yes, in some cases to also hopefully turn a profit from), and people still complain. But instead of the complaints being about Goob neglecting the site like before, now they are complaints that his changes are wrong. Sometimes I think the only way Goob would please some of these people (not you bubba) would be to actually pay the members, to watch porn and cuss everyone out. But they'd probably still find something to bitch about with that.

Holic your one of the most level headed rational people here, I would never take anything you said personally. Holding grudges has always been a trait of mine unfortunately (which is something I'm trying to work on). So for now, I'll just keep my comments to myself. I agree recently Goob has made some great improvements to the forum and I like the way it's turning around but it's still too early for me to forget the old days, ya know? Maybe my comments were a bit harsh, but for now I think I'm still just going to stay a regular member...

Lining Goob's pocket? As if anyone here who was in his shoes wouldn't want/expect to turn a profit? If you dont feel you need to pay to be a premium member to contribute to this site, I completely understand. Everyone can contribute in their own way. But this crap about Goob just being greedy gets annoying sometimes. He is not into car audio, so you cant expect him to do the work it takes to maintain and improve this site, with no monetary compensation. Would you go to your job and work for free? No. So quit bitching that Goob should.

I have seen some good, and I have seen some bad. But lately, Goob's attention to this site has increased dramatically from nothing to something, and I will be there to support that. I have seen my efforts bring good results, and I also saw him spend hours the other day fighting the double-posting issue. It's time we give him a chance, he may surprise you like he did me. I will say though that he is going on a beach trip soon, so he will be mostly absent during that trip (not totally, just mostly).

I think people need a run-down of what makes this site run.

Goob has two methods of income from this site, to my understanding: Ads, and contributing members.

The way that he makes money from contributing members is obvious. Either the pay $3, $20, or $40/month to get extra features.

As far as ads goes...They pay Goob based on traffic. How does one increase traffic on a site? There's a number of external ways to do so, but internally, one must satisfy the current community. Doing so will keep those members active, and also build up the value and repertoire of the site. Most people don't want to stick around in a community of people who neglect the site. If you don't believe me, find a chart online that relates traffic over time. You will notice a trough at the end of last year, where traffic decreased considerably because of some changes, and mostly because of a certain moderator. The repertoire was significantly impacted, many members left, and guests didn't frequent as often because there was no one here to give them a reason to stay.

Thus, if Goob wants to keep the community happy, he needs to make constant improvements to better the sites appearance, regulation, etc. By doing so, he is effectively putting money in his pocket. Some may see the improvements he makes as good nature, others may see it as a smart business decision, but most still fail to notice why he does things the way he does things. It's all about money in the long run, but I can guarantee that he doesn't just stick every penny of profit in his pocket and run off with it. One must invest in a business in order to increase revenue and profit.

I like to think that I help the forum by posting in the tech sections & educating people. You guys can act superior but all your doing is lining Goob's pockets, lol.

i understand bubbagumpers point to be honest(even though he doesnt seem to like me lol) but i would like to see things continue to go in a positve way like it seems they have lately with the changes being made...such as enforcing less trolling in tech sections.. little site improves & vendors slowly coming to the site again..hopefully more will come..

however, i chose to support the forum with my $3/month in hope that maybe others will do the same and give goob more incentive to continue to improve this site.. like audioholic said..hes a businessman.. cant really expect him to want to try and put in effort into something that he isnt making money off of.. i know i wouldnt to be honest.and definately wouldnt if it wasnt a hobby for me at all.

$3/month is going to hurt/help me to be honest but if it helps this forum to grow/improve then i think its well worth it to me because i like to come to this site to learn about the hobby i love, and also to help others when im capable of doing so..
