i have just bought a amp wiring kit and the **** thing cost almost as much as my sub!!! It set me back $180 AUS and I could not belive it. It has heaps of stuff in it which seems a little unnecessary. Is all of this stuff needed??

24k gold contact connectors

-power cable 8 AWG 18ft

-ground cable 8 AWG 4ft

-remote turn on wire 15ft

-split loom tubing 6.5 ft

-flat speaker cable 14 AWG 20ft

-water proof gold inline AGU Fuse Holder 8 AWG

-AGU Fuse 40 Amp

-Gold Ring Terminals 8 AWG (2 pieces)

-Gold Spade Terminals 8 AWG (2 pieces)

-Stereo RCA triple shielded 16.5ft

-Cable Ties 4" (10 pieces)

-Grommets (2 pieces)

-Self Tapping Screws(4 pieces)

Is all of this really needed and did I get rpped off??

Thanks

i dont know how much that is in US money, but if u were to use all of that it would make for a pretty clean install. (no bare wires on the amp, all the wires inside to tubing, nice fuse holder...

sounds like a good kit.

hope this helps.

wiring is very important. period. it determines sound quality and the aount of power that gets to your subs. if you use Sh!tty wiring, your amp will not be able to send all of it's power to the sub. don;t go cheap on wiring

hhmmmmm, I kinda got a couple of different views there that contradicted each other. I know that good wiring would enable the amp and sub to get good signals but couldn't you just get that kind of stuff at the hardware store? $180 AUS is $102.46

Ask anybody that has done any testing at all, and I guarantee they will tell you that wire is wire, as long as it is made to be used in audio applications, you will not be able to tell a difference. On the other hand, using the proper size wire can make a difference. But other than that Fosgate wire is basically the same as Joe Blow wire. Only difference is you are paying for the Fosgate name.

Let me give you a quick example: Take a pair of RCA's made by street wires, they say that they eliminate noise and what not they cost around a $100 or so. Then take a pair of Monster Cable RCA's, that say the same thing, but cost around $40 or so. I can guarantee you will not be able to tell a difference. Believe me, I have tried it, you can go ahead and waste that $60 if that suits you, but I doubt you would spend that money if it really didn't matter.

I still believe that you got ripped off if you payed 102$ US for an 8 gauge kit. I got a stinger 4Gauge kit with a 150Amp fuse for 80$ and that was from one of the most expensive audio places around. They do good work though so I payed them a lil more than I woulda payed anywhere else.

Absolutely. Especially if it is a JBC amp. LOL j/k But seriously could be 500w might not. What brand is it?
