I went to lombards stereo yesterday. To see what they can offer me, and I walked out with an appointment next week to install the following in my 2000 jetta.

1 hertz dieci 6.5" coax speakers

1 hertz dieci 6.5" comp speakers

1 mmats p2.5 12" sub

1 memphis srx 4.300 4ch amp

1 mmats 600.2 sub amp

1 alpine 143bt

1 pac lc1 sub knob

2 amp kits 4 guage

1 custom box

All this plus installation fees for $2515

Is it worth it or should I call and cancel?

personally id buy the equipment and install it myself, but to me installing it is half the fun. plus i like the sense of accomplishment after doing it all, lol. don't have the time to look up all of the equipment but you'd prolly save a good 700-1000 bucks doing it yourself.

If the price is installed, it is about what I would expect to pay. 1/2 the price, or close to it is probably installation, which you could save by doing yourself. Plus you get to learn how it all works, and the experience. You know exactly how everything is set up, and have the sense of accomplishment from doing it. I understand it seems a bit overwhelming when first getting into car audio, and if you do not have the ability, or the desire to learn, then go ahead and do it.

That is all very nice equipment. It's a shop so they're gonna bend you over. In my eyes no shop is ever worth it as I can do the work myself saving a lot of money. All of those things will run you around $1500 so 1000 for them to install it. It is up to you whether that is worth it or not. If it were me I'd go get the equipment myself maybe search for some deals on comparable equipment and install it myself. You should be able to make a comparable system on a $1000 budget, but of coarse with the shop they will do all the hard work for you.

No. I told you man, I live right next to you and can do it for way cheaper. I can also help you find stuff way cheaper online. I have been to Lombards to look around and it is way over priced and the owner is pretty stuck up. Text me at 719-368-1005 and I can help you out to at least pick the stuff out even if you don't have me install it. You'll save a ton of money

^why don't you have this guy try and help you out?.. chances are he will save you some money... I don't know him personally, but I know you get ripped when you get a store install.

I'm definitely willing to help. I hate to even think about how much money I blew overpaying for stuff and going through shops when I first starting getting into car audio. Wish I had known about websites like this or knew people to help me out.

Thanks. I wanted to install all myself but this is my first sound system and I dont want there to be a chance that any of the equipment i buy will burn out due to something i did wrong

Gee I can't wait till all the customers of all you guy's employer's start doing your job for themselves cause they say that your companies are over pricing their goods and services, then you start getting laid off because the company doesn't have the same business. Let's see how quick it takes you guys to start screaming foul.

Granted some shops do overprice there goods which in turn just make the rest of the industry look bad but on the other had as consumers we always want everything bigger, better and CHEAPER!!! Well tell me this, just how long do you thing that trend will keep up before it starts crippling all of us. Most of you B*TCH and moan about products not being made in America, about it being made in China or Korea, well guess what...that's what happens when you want it cheap....Give a few a little knowledge and they think they know everything and f*ck it up for EVERYONE....That's my rant for today.....
