Is this upgrade worth it?

I'm looking to upgrade the subwoofer/amp in my truck and I've found some stuff that I'm thinking about buying, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I don't know exactly how power or size of the speaker relates to how loud/powerful the sound is. I'd like to keep it under 250$ at most $300 which is why I picked this stuff, but if theres a better alternative please let me know.

I currently have:

Kicker 08ZX300.1 300w mono amp/150w RMS

Kicker 07C10-4 300w 4 ohm/150w RMS

and its alright but I want more bass so I'm looking at this:

Alpine MRP-M500500w mono amp/300w RMS @ 4 ohm

Alpine SWE-1043750w 4 ohm/250w RMS

I like the alpine amp because its small, and I'm in an extended cab pickup so space is at a prime. I want the upgrade, I'm just not sure how much better this will be. Any recommendations?

I don't really have a problem with getting a 12" but I'd have to get a new enclosure and I want to stay under 250$. As for enclosures, one of the panels on my current one rattles a LOT. I tried re-gluing it but it came free again. What can I do? Can you put screws in the joints or is that a bad idea?

Im not sure exactly what you are doin you are wanting to upgrade ur amp right maby sub??

Hifonics amps are good budget amps Thats what I run //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And you can use screws, But make sure you add plenty of wood glue to the joints, like spread the box apart and squeeze wood glue up in there real good, cuz the glue makes up about 80-90% of box strength, Just dont over do it with the screws if

you are using MDF it has a tendency to split...So just use the screws to hold the joints together while the glue drys

Or go to the hardware store and for like 28 bucks buy a new sheet of 3/4 mdf

and build a new box:D

I was just wondering how noticeably louder that upgrade would be.

And yeah thats what I was afraid of because it is MDF. Can I caulk it? Its kinda hard to get into those joints.

I dont ever use caulk because there in no structural support like there would be with wood glue

If u dont want to use woog glue I guess you could caulk it and put screws in it but it would proly be just a matter of time before it broke again or started leaking air
