I will be making a ported box for a single 12" L7. My friend told me to Multiply the Hieght, the width and the dept, and get the total of that and then divide it by 1728. That being said i calculated 18H, 18W, And 17D and i got a total of 3.1875- .086 Which is the speaker displacment, I ended up with 3.1015cubes. I am planning to have the tune port at 35hz. Am i doing this right or wrong?? I am aiming for 3.0 cf at 35hz. I dont mid if it is a bit higher than 3.0

Your on the right track to get your box volume. remember also to take into account your port displacement. You can check out the tutorial on jl's site for detail.http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=141

edit:^^**** beat me to it.

So if i was to tune it at 35hz, how much will that take away?? What should i go with. I want to stick with 17H and 18D. Help me out here please.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

find out roughly what net volume you can work with, then base your measurements off that.

first thing i do is find out net volume i want, then figure out port specs (tuning and displacement), then add the port displacement, add subwoofer displacement, add bracing displacement (should be very minimal 0.1cf or so). so after you add all that to your net volume you want to achieve, figure out what measurements will get you that total volume internally.

That being said, I am gonna be looking at 25W, 18H, And 18D to be at 3.0, Correct??
Like I said...W)25"..H)18"..D)18" is actually 3.7cft^3 then you would figure in the port displacement, which earlier I already did when we were talking..it then bringing it down to 3cft^3
