is this safe?

I usually find that Sam Adams helps in situations like these...
It ain't rocket science. Step back and think a bit.

You have a wire harness adapter to the car, right? Unplug it.

Take the black wire from the HU and ground it to the firewall or metal dash. Connect the yellow and red (or orange? I forget) wires to unswitched 12V. If the radio won't power up now then something very basic is wrong. Like the plug is fallin' outta the CD player.

Start with basics, work your way forward.
what do you mean unswitched 12v? ill try what you said tommorow, i dont have work so i'll have the whole day to wire it up if i dont smash it on the concrete in fustration first //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

ok i found ANOTHER thing, now when i hook up my stock radio back up to it , and turn it on radio the thing turns on and off real fast , like the alpine did sort of but a little faster, like the electricty was pulsing instead of being a steady stream!

all i did was pull out the wire harness from stock radio, hook up gm harness, and then wire the alpine and it was pulsing , now i hook up stock radio BACK in it does the same.... so it must be electrical... could it have to do with the fuse problem? i am totally stumped now!

I hate to say it, but it's time to go to a shop. BB, CC or SOMEWHERE and pay the money to have your install done properly. install>you now:blush:
yea, but what did i do wrong? what could i have done to make everythign start flashing? did i blow a fuse? there isent even one in the radio fuse slot.... man this sucks! i dont get payed till next week //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif and now i dont even have a radio

need a fuse inline and your radio is going to be on constantly if you put both wires there
no it won`t,i do all the time all the yellow wire is is a memory wire that keeps all your programmed settings store in memeory without you having to reset them each time you turn on your radio, the red wire is the switch wire it gives you power to turn on the unit when you hit the switch..so yes you will be saft to hook them up that way witout it draining your battery Yes you will need a fuse No your radio will not be on constantly

GOD ****IT ITS STILl NOT WORKIBNG KJ$#^KL@QJ#^KLJERGHJKAEGHJALSJKGKLWAjrYJK#^J#@%K&^J#@%KL&j24357
i went out there, wired everything up except for the red + yellow, i combined them then ran one wire from them to positive terminal on battery, AND THE ****ER STILL DOSENT WORK! it worked 5 minutes ago in my subaru but this freakin buick SUCKS Nuts!!! ARGKJWTKL@JT what am i doign wrong?!?!?!?!
I had a problem just like yours and I sent it off to a very good repair shop and they found out that it was a cracked board, you might want to check into getting it checked out

it SOUNDS like your unit is powering up and then shorting out. Going into momentary protect. Something's not right. it MAY be too late for the unit, hard to tell though. A stereo shop can do that basic harness install pretty quick and you'll have radio again!

what do you mean cracked board?
The circuit board that is inside the unit the one that the power and speaker wires connect to,I had a crack in mines and i would work and when i would turn it off and try to turn it back on nothing or it would play a few seconds and quit, just try and have it checked out...it will save you un needed headache
