Ok, I put my cup on since I foresee ball busting. Ok, the guy bought it off eBay , the crystal ball says so. Let's get past that - the subs look decent so far. I still feel I'm the side of the fence that says I got a decent deal here .

If the subs are sundown SA series, you are getting a decent deal, If you dont like the box, sell the box and build your own, box plans are straight from sundown's website designed for these subs so its a much more accurately spec'd box than doing random designs.. Have a taste of what its like on the wild side with a real woofer.

Yes those are basically marketing gimmicks preying on the uninformed public., box aside the woofers are solid performers, you'll like them a lot more than your pioneer.

Lol, truth is the ****** carpeting job around the ports made me believe some Ameture made it making it a custom, lol . I'll say this , it's not too bad for an eBay box - this thing slams hard. I'll most likely sell it , hopefully get 50$ for a sheet of birch. Now to compare to the pioneer that I built yesterday - the pioneer has the harder hitting spl type bass and these are actually slightly softer which is cool with me since I lean on the sq a bit more. I'm sure a different box will change this but for the moment I seem content. All in all, I learned about sundown here on this forum and have always wanted them and I finally have a pair. I'll keep goofing around with them trying out different music and movies since it's currently on my home theater amp - thanks for the feedback fellas

If tuning is low enough, and the length of the port tells me it may be, it actually might be a decent box for a prefab. Little on the small side for my taste but not terrible.

you cant compare unless you put the SA in a proper box. The pre-fab is junk for output. Dont even dare judge those subs when you are using a fking prefab. You are barely tapping into 25% of the sub's capabilities. You say that that you might test it out and what not... but you obviously have the sub on craigslist for sale....
