Is this reasonable?

I'll probably go through the same cycle, and i guess the title is in their name cuz when it was bought i was 16, but it was all my money and they said they would transfer the title when i leave for college... so i guess it's still theirs... but it sure doesn't feel like their car after all the work and money I've put into it...
You still live there and they provide for your general welfare...so you do have to listen. However, this will make independance much more meaningful.

And I'd agree, if you have a family. Perhaps he is not interested in a family. Does that make him some kind of a failure? It seems to be the opinion of much of society that one must start a family. My question is why? And why do many people look down on those that chose to not start one.
because its a passive aggressive action against the mores of acceptable societal interactions

if he doesnt want a family, fine

but he will probably end up with one

starting a family was never a goal of mine, which I think helped with my selection for a mate.

I wasnt looking for a wife, it just happened, seems like when its not something you plan on (not including pregnancy) it works out better

I think you are taking my comment a bit too far. You can go down that road...but it doesn't lead to a very pleasant place. You do have to "go along to get along"...and I, too, will probably do the family thing. Not because it is in my own best interest, but to conform to society's mandate as this is what I must do.
If I buck the system, my existance will be alone and miserable. So, rather than being miserable by myself...I chose to get married and do the family thing so I can be miserable with others.
That's just how i think, sometimes i feel trapped and like my life has already been laid out for me and I'll never be able to really just anjoy the precious little bit of time I have here. I'll never be here again and I think it'd be a shame if I wasted my life doing what everyone wants me to do...

The sooner you accept this, the better off you will be. Why do you think people love their hobbies so much? It isn't because car audio is so great...it is because a hobby allows people a choice of something they can do that they enjoy. Most of the other things are more or less forced....so try to find things you can control.

I agree, for reasons I already stated. I do enjoy conversations like this as it keeps me young. I have already given up the fight against this for the most part...but young people with flames in their eyes make me remember the fight.

you won't

don't worry

like most people moving to college you'll probably fuck up a semester or two and either you'll get your head on right and pursue a degree, or drop out

whatever suits you best

just dont knock up some bimbo @ a block party and decide to marry her

that will result in instant FAIL

This place we live in sucks doesn't it? I guess theres no other way to get by tho... and with that the naivete of youth is crushed... Does anyone in this world just get to do what they truly want for a living?

yeah, they do lol

I mean, Im only 24, but its bizarre how foreign the attitudes and behavior of teenagers can seem after just a few years

That's the name of the game, my friend. But determining what one truly wants its an entirely different matter...and in my opinion far more difficult than pursing that as a career.

When you get to this place where people will quit telling you what to do, when to do it, how to do it, etc...let me know. The whole reason for me moving out is so people will give me my independence. Slowly, I am realizing the cost of social interaction is people fvcking with you about what you are doing.

I was one of 3 that graduated out of my old "click" of about 25 people in college

its not that college is necessarily difficult on an intellectual level, but working, schooling, and maintaining a social life along with learning how to do it on your own will be very dependent upon how you were raised, or your own personal ambition, or most likely a combo of the two

your parents seem to be building you up for that

I guess but other people can't MAKE you do things at certain times unless they're like your boss or shit... my parents actually make me change my schedule whenever i budget my time to get things done... I'm never left to my own devices.

I hope the people telling you what to do and such can't make you follow their orders, cuz then my next question is when do we ever get out of that

I doubt the Candadian school system is that much superior to the American school system.
it's not THAT much better..but i do know most of the american states...and i ment the fact your president is a moron, not the average person. It is true our school system is not much better at all..needs to fixed both sides of the border.

No, they typically don't put a pistol to your head. But the nag, nag, and talk shit until you do it. This stands for co-workers, parents, girlfriends, etc.

What do I get out of it? Well, I get people that love and care for me...and people I get to nag and bother as well. Although I'd be down for a no-nag/bother policy...many people think that would make for a boring life.
