I have a 1.72cuft box, including all displacements (port, sub) etc... with a single 12", I am planning on putting a 2x9 x 12" long (Internal port size) port... should I not get any port noise with this port size?
This is kinda temp... I have a 13W7 sitting here... that will go there later, but I dont have any time soon to do it, so im fixin up the T1 to last me till I can stand another weed of fiberglassing haha...
Port area may not be a huge issue in that box, depending on power level. If you stay below 600Wrms, you should have around 20m/s of vent air velocity. At 35m/s (10% the velocity of sound ) you will have some pretty noticeable sound.
What is kinda concerning about the box is your tuning frequency. At 1.72 net and 18in^2 of port area 12" long, you will be tuned near 45Hz and have about a 5dB peak at 55Hz. Be carefull for overexcursion also.
If you have to use that box, maybe invert the sub and gain an additional .159ft^3 net. Your tuning will end up at 42Hz or so then. That would be a little more reasonable.
