Is this enough power

I am new to the game and just received a jl audio 500.1 and a set of 12w3's in a sealed enclosure as a present. Will the jl's benefit more with this amp in a sealed or ported/vented enclosure

It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish from this. Would you prefer more SPL (sound pressure level, loud) or SQ (sound quality)? If you would like SQ then those subs will sound awsome in a sealed enclosure off that power. For SPL build yourself a ported enclosure.

But either way, the 500.1 will serve the w3's well.
