IS THIS Bs? or for real?

If they can fool a seasoned veteran like that crack mama, it must be legit.

Oh, and we built the exact same thing for a 'class project' back in the early 90's in the installer school I attended. But they make it sound like Team Toxic invented the concept here or something. Im not impressed. *yawn*

Yes the enclosure can be made to be very efficient. But with that advantage comes disadvantages. They claim the system is not peaky. Okay, then it has a VERY narrow usable bandwidth. And notice how they hyped up that there was no amplifier being used. You were hearing its full capabilities. It didnt have an amp because it couldn't handle more power than it was getting. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It wasn't rattling shit. A decent set of comps would drown it out. To get a realistically good low-end output from them, you'd need an array of them.

When's the last time someone sat in your ride and guessed the correct number and size of subs? People are always saying that their friends totally over estimate the size and number of subs in their ride after listening to it. Someone with a pair of 10's saying everyone tells them it sounds like 15's. So.... when some pregnant crack mama guesses a 6x9 or an 8, Im thinking it really sounds like a 5-1/4 or maybe a 6-1/2. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

ok well he has broke off from ttb and is pwkdesigns.com now. I read alot about Pete and must say he does good work. There is alot of people who favor a specific type of box Pete does know a thing or two about sound and building boxes. Where most of us will sit there building 4-10 boxes trying to get something where they want it he uses this dark magic that he calls "physics" and modeling up on a computer to make his designs. this "physics" thing has been around for a long time are the boxes he is making new.. Probably not does he do good work yeah.

How much does it cost in wood to make a couple boxes probably more than the 50 bucks he charges for prints. am I making him out to be a audio god no. Am I a moron when it comes to building boxes no. Am I as good as some people on this forum heck no. I told him what I wanted out of it and got just that. Where most of the people you ask for help building a box will make it a standard ported enclosure based on the driver and the amp.

He takes it a step more and makes a enclosure that will work best for the vehicle for the specs you want out of it. He does so using more efficient designs than just a ported or sealed enclosure. Doing so by modeling up the box and finding where the standing waves in the box will be and using them to his advantage. At the same time modeling up the enclosure in a program with the cabin specs to know where to have port and sub placement on the box to make it loudest in the area you want. If you want it to be a street ground pounder or if you want it to be a termlab toy is up to you. Like he says there is a deference between loud and hitting high #s.

His designs are more complex using t-lines, proper bandpass enclosures and other more in depth designs.

I have a 93 civic with a memphis 1000d and 2 dvc dd1508s in a enclosure he made to have a flat response and feel loud. It will do a 137.6 on tl at some place around low 40's don't remember the exact tone. It will also play from 20-100hz and plays pretty flat all the way across with a bit of cabin gain in one area. It is a little light on double bass pedals (if I had more power it would do the job) but I LOVE the way it sounds. The drivers also want more like 2500-3000 watts in the T-line enclosure they are in. Every one that gets in the car can't believe it is 2 8's. I use to have a jeep grand Cherokee with a Re XXX 15 (old model) in a ported enclosure built pretty well and had about 4 boxes before I built the one I liked the most. It didn't have the higher end I wanted out of it but had good low end. It was being ran off of a us amps 2000x that was powered to full ability. From a guess I think if I had 2000-2300 watts on the 1508s it would sound as loud or louder. It was only hitting a 146.7 on a tl but was tuned for lower bass. The 1508s will hit lower than the 15.

Take what I have wrote as you would like but I know I will talk to Pete for designs in the future and I am no dumb young buck.
