I own a hifonics bxi2006d. Its rated at 2000 watts but it is hifonics. I have a chance to trade my amp and $150 for a sundown saz-1500. Thats rated at 1500 watts BUT its SUNDOWN

not for the 150 extra no.. they will do around the same power though.. the hifonics will be a tad more.. 1750 or so and the saz 1500-1700 i would say..

yea, and that wouldn't even be a noticeable amount of power difference.

how does sundown compare to brand names like memphis and rockford?

The boards are probably the same, honestly.
If not, The Zenon boards (SD, RD, etc.) are better quality. They're made in Korea, if I'm not mistaken where as most of the other big names are made in China. Korea has a slightly better reputation in terms of quality.

I would say keep your amp. I benched the Sundown and its a little underrated, I got 1600-1750 @ 1 ohm @ 13.8v. The power between those 2 would be too close to hear any difference. I also benched a couple of Rockford bd1500's which make between 1800-1900@ 1 ohm, but again still too close to make any audible difference.
