is this amp even close to what they say?

Okay, so my friend asks me how much 4ga wiring will handle. I sent him a chart and asked what kind of amp he wants to run. He said a Demon 4000w. So I Google it and find out it's made by Power Acoustics. Okay, so it's obviously obsurdly overrated. So I find it on their website and they claim 2k rms at 1 ohm. I was surprised. Then I saw it only has 2 gauge inputs (might have even been four). Shouldn't ANY amp running anything near 2k watts have zero gauge inputs? And is this thing actually anything close to a 2k amp or is power acoustik not cea compliant?

Liklely around 1200ish watts rms.

With power acoustik classD amps, a good guess at 1ohm power is to look at the 'rated' 4ohm power. That is usually a realistic rating for the 1ohm output.

That's what I thought. Out of curiosity how are you coming up with these numbers? Looking at how it's fused, efficiency, ..?

the wiring input has nothing to do with an amps output capability's, my older memphis mc2000d was a 2400w rms watt amp with 4g power inputs and it did every bit of it's rated power.

Didn't know that. Leanrned something new today. I guess my question is why would they have such small inputs with that kind of power. Conceivably, if you were to try to run that and needed a 12 foot power supply you wouldn't be able to hook one up to meet what it needs right? Is this because they plan on you adding a second battery and know you won't need a wire that long or are you just supposed to use an adapter if that happens?
