is this a good amp?

ok one last question...

if i bought them phoenix gold speakers

and hooked them up to my profile amp.

would that sound the same as me buying a better amp that does 120-130 W on 2 channels? like if i just sold the profile amp and bought yet another one? or would i just be wasting my time/cash? would it not be worth it? like how much of a difference would it make?

should i just be looking for speakers that fit the size with the most watts? of course within my price range too.

I don't think the difference will be much depending on what the profile actually puts out.

ACTUALLY

What you should do is bridge the profile into 2 channels and set the gains to get like 125-150watts out of each of the 2 channels since you won't be using the other 2 channels anyways!

GENIUS!

do what in the who in the what in the where? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
Haha, run the amp in bridged mode. So its effectively only 2 channels outputting but they will output at double the power basically.

So instead of getting 75w @ 4 ohm per channel over 4 channels, you'll be getting 225 watts @ 4ohms over 2 channels.

Make sense?

not at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Haha, well okay look let me try to explain.

The amp can operate in two ways.

First and most obviously as a 4 channel amp, giving 75 watts by 4 channels.

Then it can also operate as a TWO channel amp, giving 225 watts into TWO channels. This is done by linking two of the four channels into one, which when done to all of them leaves two channels total.

For example, say there is Channel : 1, 2, 3, and 4.

In the normal mode you would run them seperate, channel 1 to speaker 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, 4 to 4.

In bridge mode, what your doing is combining two of the channels into one. So it would be like this:

Channel 1+2 to speaker 1, channel 3+4 to speaker 2.

This makes it put out a greater amount of power into each of the two channels since its using two channels to power one speaker.

Now understand? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

yes.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

so theres a switch or something on the amp to do that, or do i have to buy something or do something to it for it to be a 2 channel amp?

u mean each of the 2 channels giving 225 W? wont that blow my speakers?

YEs, putting 225 to them would probably blow the speakers. But that's what the gain knob is for my friend! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

There is no switch or anything you need to buy, when connecting the speakers you just connect them using the neg of one channel and the pos of another.

For example, look.

__1_____2______3_____4

Wiring it like that, where bold terminal = wire plugged in, would bridge the channels.

It will also be stated in the owners manual for the amp, probably with better pictures then mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Well, i realized my text diagram didn't translate too well do to the forum formatting it.

Here's a random paint I drew up to get the rough point across.
