is there any reason to feed more than stated RMS to a set of comps?

i've heard that people give those new pioneers plenty more than what they are rated for. it's suggest that you just stay away from their 200W max rating and you should be fine.

just make sure the gains are set properly and you should be fine.

i might be buying a pair of the same exact speakers within the week and plan to give em like 80-100W. Whered you buy from and how much?

You gotta remember, though. With normal music, youre not getting the full RMS. Maybe half.
then why get a bigger amp? If your not using all the power of the amp that can put out RMS, why go higher.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Reduction in possibility of distortion, and more importantly clipping, in the event that you turn the gains up too high in an effort to produce more output.

But that is why I would tune the speakers a bit over their limits.

be mindful when you bridge amp to power components.

if the R + L channels are discrete (stereo), and bridging flips the other channel to constructively add the (voltage) signals... then youre getting a distorted mono signal

can someone informed confirm?

I wouldn't bridge, at least not at first. Wait a month for them to really break in and if they aren't loud enough then try it but be careful because I know how much it sucks when you blow a speaker worth a few hundred. I have an old set of alpine 5"X7" that are very broke in and rated 40W rms but I can send them 80W but Ive also blown speakers rated 100Wrms with 150Wrms so just don't give them too much too fast.
