is there a difference in 1 ohm and 0.5 ohm?

You don't need to worry about impedance rise when your asking about running a amp under it's suggested load. After all the wires and stuff you'll most likely be sitting around .70 and when ever the cone moves it changes the imp. hook up a dmm to your voicecoil and push down a lil bit and you'll notice a difference in load. But when a manufacture rates there amps they already take imp. rise into consideration when rating them.

thanks..... its one of my friends amp. he had it runnin @ 1 ohm and now i sold him my 2 r's that r 2ohm so he wants to run them @ 0.5 instead of 2 ohm and i just wanted to ask.

Amps are tested into ideally-perfect resistive loads that by definition have no rise at all.

Impedance rise is a function of the environment the woofer is placed in - ported enclosures have a hump at tuning and another one octave above tuning. For music, I wouldn't worry about it. For a single-note SPL burp, it can be crucial to know.
